Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the workability and safety of the leaf spring pressing device to be used in a load test of a leaf spring having an eye part on either end by a method wherein a leaf spring supporting pin is provided to be inserted into the eye part automatically. CONSTITUTION:When the eye part (b) and a double wound part (c) on the end of the leaf spring (a) transferred by a conveyor or the like are mounted on a V-shaped supporting part 7, a seat 3 is descended slightly against the force of springs 6 by an amount corresponding to the weight of the leaf spring (a). This descend of the seat 3 is detected by a detector not shown, and a drive part 10 is actuated to make a center bed 8 approach the seat 3 so that the pin 9 is inserted into an aperture (f) pierced in a bush (e). On the other hand, as a cam follower 13 comes into a sliding contact with a cam member 11, the seat 3 descends against the force of the springs 6. When the center bed 8 reaches a position indicated in a two-dot-and-dash line, the double wound part (c) is separated from the supporting part 7. In this instance, the leaf spring (a) is supported by the pin 9. Various load tests are carried out by applying a predetermined amount of load on the leaf spring (a) through a pressing head in this state.
