Abstract

PURPOSE: To remove suspended fine particles in water efficiently and facilitate washing of filter media by extending wire gauzes to the top and bottom in a filter tank, and providing a filter medium bed deposited with short fibers of specific gravity higher than that of the liquid to be filtered between these upper and lower wire nets.

CONSTITUTION: The on-off valves of an air blow-in pipe 12 and a washing water discharge pipe 14 are closed, and the on-off valves of supply pipe 11 of a liquid to be filtered and a filtrate take-out pipe 13 are opened. When the liquid to be filtered is supplied with a liquid feed pump, a filter medium bed 4 is compressed to an upper wire gauze 2 by the supply pressure thereof, and the clearances among the monofilaments 3 of the filter media are diminished, by which turbid materials are captured and the filtrate is taken out through the pipe 13. Washing of the filter media is accomplished by force-feeding air through the pipe 12, allowing the same to flow through the clearances amoung the short fibers 3 of the bed 4, and peeling the turbid materials captured in the bed 4. When the short fibers 3 of the filter media have moved and deposited on a lower wire gauze 2', the liquid to be filtered is supplied through the pipe 11 and the stripped turbid materials are discharged through the discharge pipe 14.
