Abstract
PURPOSE: To carry out the titled good operation without requiring a plasticizer, by dissolving a carboxyalkyl cellulose derivative as an enteric coating agent in a specific solvent, and coating a solid medicine with the resultant solution.
CONSTITUTION: A carboxyalkyl cellulose derivative, e.g. calcium carboxymethyl cellulose (trade name: ECG-505, manufactured by Daicel KK) in which the hydroxyl groups (three hydroxyl groups per glucose unit) in the cellulose are at least partly substituted by -O.CnH2nCOOH (n is an integer 1W5) and ether groups as at least one constituent is dissolved in a single or mixed solvent, e.g a mixed solvent of ethyl alcohol with water, containing a 1W3C lower alkanol, and the resultant solution is used to coat a solid medicine, i.e. a tablet, pill, granule or capsule, of a medicine. A uniform coating film of high density can be obtained without using a plasticizer particularly.
