Abstract

PURPOSE:To protect the conductive parts of ballast or outer tube from breakdown due to the kick voltage, by connecting a heater resistor and a current limiting resistor in series while providing the positive characteristic where the resistance will increase in accordance with the conducting time to said resistors. CONSTITUTION:A startor is comprised of a normal close bimetal switch 3, a resistor 11 for heating said switch 3 and a current limiting resistor 12 connected in series, where said series starting circuit is connected in parallel with a light emitting tube 2. Said resistors 11, 12 have the positive characteristic where the temperature will increase with the conducting time thus to increase the resistance. The heat producing performance of the resistor 11 is selected higher than that of the resistor 12. When the kick voltages are applied plural times, the resistances of the resistors 11, 12 will increase to lower the kick voltage as the time elapses.
