Abstract
PURPOSE: To extrude the shape free from the surface defects, by extruding the entire billet into a shape while keeping contact between the container and the member to contact with container at the part ahead in the extruding direction, and at the same time, by venting the air caught between the rear end of the former billet and the front end of the following billet through the fine pathway prepared in the extruder.
CONSTITUTION: The billet 3 is charged into the container 1 and is pushed forward as far as the end face of the former billet by the stem 2; hereby, the extrusion work is restarted at once; over through a series of acting process of the stem 2, the container 1 keeps contact with the gas venting member 10. With this restart of the extrusion work, a high pressure is generated between the former and following billets 3, and the air caught therein is discharged through one or more slits formed in the gas venting member 10 contacting with outer surface of the billet 3.
