Abstract

PURPOSE:To exactly detect an amount of toner left in a toner container, to simplify the structure of the detector, and to reduce its cost, by providing a motor for driving a toner feed roller, and a detector for detecting drive current of the motor. CONSTITUTION:Toner 4 is contained in toner container 3, and fed to photoreceptor surface 2a with toner feed roller 5 rotated with motor 6. At that time, resistance against rotation in container 3, i.e. the load acting on motor 6 depends on the amount of toner 4 in container 3. The more the amount of toner 4, the heavier the load on motor 6, and vice versa, thus permitting the remaining toner amount to be exactly detected by detecting the force for rotating roller 5, i.e., the current flowing to motor 6.
