Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a superior image by applying aqueous dispersing solution to one side of base paper to form an electrically conductive layer contg. electrically conductive or photoconductive ZnO and a water-insoluble and highly insulating binder on the paper and a recording layer contg. a water-soluble or -insoluble and highly insulating binder and a surface roughening agent on the conductive layer. CONSTITUTION:An aqueous dispersing solution contg. electrically conductive or photoconductive ZnO and a water-insoluble and highly insulating binder such as polyvinyl acetate is applied to one side of base paper and dried to form an electrically conductive layer. An aqueous dispersing solution contg. a water-soluble or -insoluble binder and a surface roughening agent such as particles of CaCO3, SiO2 or other inorg. pigment or particles of polyvinyl chloride, melamine resin or other resin is then applied to the conductive layer and dried to form a recording layer. Thus, electrostatic recording paper is obtd. The paper is used in electrostatic recording as it is when electrically conductive ZnO is contained and after being irradiated with ultraviolet light or white light when photoconductive ZnO is contained. The paper can be manufactured without causing ignition, and the supeior characteristics are not deteriorated by the interaction between the photosensitive layer and the solvent of the recording layer in the recording layer coating process.
