Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable a rotating body to pass a critical rotating speed therefor without generating excessive vibration by a method wherein a rotatable and slidable damper is attached to the rotating body such as a centrifugal separator or the like rotated in a high speed to provide it with a vibration damping force in a condition that the rotating body is floated in air perfectly.
CONSTITUTION: The damper 9 is attached to the rotating body 1. One part 9a of the damper 9 is rotatably and slidably attached to the other part 9b of the damper 9 and liquid 10 is held in a clearance between both of the damper parts 9a, 9b. When the axial center 7 of the rotating body 1 is moved to another axial center 7' and a vibration is generated, a relative speed is generated between the damper parts 9a, 9b which are vibrating integrally with the rotating body 1 and the liquid 10 is sheared. Accordingly, the damping force generated in proportion to the relative speed operates so as to restrain the vibration of the rotating body 1 and reduces the vibration upon passing the critical speed thereof thereby enabling to increase the number of revolution into the area of the high speed rotation easily.
