Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent deterioration in the stable-image forming properties and the light attenuating speed characteristics due to heat, etc. by passing a dispersion contg. cadmium sulfide particles and a sulfur forming substance through a heated reaction tube to stabilize the surfaces of the cadmium sulfide particles.
CONSTITUTION: Sodium thiosulfate or the like forming sulfur by heating is added to a dispersion of cadmium sulfide. This dispersion 1 is fed by pump 3 to reaction tube 6 heated with electric furnace 7, and it is allowed to flow out of tube 6 after a predetermined time. The amount of dispersion 1 fed under pressure is regulated with flow rate regulating valves 4, 5, 8. Thus, the surfaces of the cadmium sulfide particles are stabilized by contact with deposited sulfur in tube 6. By this method the treatment can be performed efficiently and continuously.
