Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the drop in electric potential and obtain the transferred images having superior image quality by forming the inner side of a drumlike member into a heat radiation shape, and air cooling the same, in a copying apparatus which thermally transfers the toner images on the drumlike member to transfer papaer directly or by way of a transfer belt. CONSTITUTION:A drumlike charge holding member 1 which rotates in the direction of an arrow is heated directly by a heat roller 6 or 11 for transfer or indirectly by way of a transfer belt 5 in the process of transferring and fixing the toner images on the surface to the transfer member 7. In the case of, for example, a selenium photoreceptor, it is heated to a superheated state in excess of about 40-50 deg.C. If heat radiating members 13 are provided to this member 1, to increase the contact area with air and it is sufficiently cooled with a cooling fan or the like, the superheating is prevented. Hence, the drop of the electric potential of the member 1 does not occur, and the charge holding characteristic is maintained in a stable and good state.
