Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent a slider from being charged by static electricity and prevent the generation of the noise being generated due to the occurrence of discharge between the same and a disc by adding a slight amount of rare earth elements or the like to transition metallic oxide to control its valency thereby giving conductivity. CONSTITUTION:A slider 2 provided with magnetic head elements 3 is made of a material which is given conductivity by adding a slight amount of about 0.1- 0.3mol% rare earth elements such as La and Ce to transition metal such as barium titanate and calcining the same or heating the same in a vacuum or reducing atmosphere. Thereby, the slider 2 is prevented from being charged by the static electricity generated due to the friction of a disc and air and from generating noise through discharging of this. Particularly with the thin film head elements 3, the decrease in the S/N ratio owing to the entry of noise is prevented.
