Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce a load pressure applied to a contact seal by a fluid dynamic pressure seal formed by a method wherein a spiral groove is made at a bearing part of a rotary shaft between the contact seal and the rotor.
CONSTITUTION: When the rotor 1 is rotated, lubricant oil including coolant in the ring groove 20 is suctioned into the high pressure groove 19a in the sprial groove 19 arranged at the bearing part of the rotary shaft 7 and then flowed toward the direction A. In turn, the flow of the lubricant oil is prevented under a pressure at the groove 19b in the contact seal acted upon in a direction B at the crossing line 19c with the groove 19b at the opposite contact seal 11. As a result, a prssure in the fluid at the crossing line 19c is made to be maximum value and the pressure Pm applied to the mechanical seal 11 as shown in the drawing is made to be substantially lower compared to that of the coolant Ps in the cylinder. That is, it is possible to reduce substantially a pressure applied to the mechanical seal 11 under a spiral groove 19.
