Abstract

CONSTITUTION: In a two-part cooling medium consisting of (A) a substance absorbing heat during dissolution (preferably ammonium nitrate and/or urea) and (B) water, (C) a viscosity builder (e.g., alginate, guar gum, etc.) or a water absorption agent (e.g., inorganic substance, etc., silica gel, etc., water absoption resin, polyacrylate, etc.) is added to the component B, to give the desired two-part cooling medium. Preferably 100pts.wt. component B is blended with 10W500pts.wt. component A and 0.001W50pts.wt. component C. Conveniently the component A and the component B to which the component C is added are packed in a bag such as one made of a plastic film separately and blended in use. If the cooling medium after use is cooled by a refrigerator while it is packed, it can be reused.
