Abstract

PURPOSE:To match reproduction, etc., of quick motion or slow motion to a feed speed in recording by a magnetic recording device for video signals, by deciding a reproduction period by reproducing a control signal in reproduction. CONSTITUTION:When a video signal recorded on a magnetic tape is recorded, a control signal recorded in recording is supplied by way of amplifier 19 and sample holding circuit 21 to exercise phase control. To control a tape speed by capstan motor 5, a rotation detection signal obtained by rotation detecting head 6 is applied to FF9 and 10, etc., to generate a sample holding error voltage, which is supplied to motor drive amplifier 16. For switching between two hours and four hours reproduction modes, circuit 17 controlled by the reproduced control signal is put into operation. An inclined voltage generating circuit in change-over circuit 17 for automatic switching in special reproduction of slow motion and stop motion is provided with capacitors for respective speeds and in any mode, reproduction can be matched to a tape speed in corresponding recording mode.
