CONSTITUTION:0.5-7wt% of a fatty acid monoglyceride, that is a nonionic surface active agent, is dissolved in distilled water and warmed. Zinc powder and the warm water are changed in an ultrasonically vibrated bath 7, and metallic mercury is dropped to amalgamate by agitating and vibrating. The vibrating and agitating device is a device that converts electrical ultrasonic energy generated from an ultrasonic oscillator 8 oscillating in a range of ultrasonic frequency region to mechanical vibrational energy through a converter 9. The ultrasonic vibration is added to vibrators 10 to vibrate a vibrating plate 11, and simultaneously an agitator 12 is operated. Thus the amalgamation can be performed easily and evenly.
