Abstract

PURPOSE:To estimate both the MLSS concentration and the quantity of sludge of many unmeasured areas, by providing the MLSS meters at several areas of a divided aeration tank and then processing the information of these meters by a computer. CONSTITUTION:The MLSS meters 4 and 5 are provided at the appropriate areas of an aeration tank 1. The measured value of these meters is transferred to a process computer 8 functioning as a data processor via the cable 6 and the process input/ output device 7. Receiving this value of measurement, the computer 8 calculates in estimation both the MLSS concentration and the quantity of sludge of the unmeasured areas where no MLSS meter is provided, and the value of this calculation is displayed on the display device 9. In such way, the MLSS concentration can be estimated for many spots from the information of MLSS at several areas. As a result, installation of many MLSS meters can be eliminated to increase the economical performance. At the same time, the maintenance of the meter can be facilitated.
