Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the safety of a mechanism, by construction a cover, securing it to a piston rod in such a manner as to enclose said piston rod, automatically deflecting said cover with deflection means when a stay damper is extremely extended and adapting said cover to the top end part of a cylinder. CONSTITUTION:A cover 7, which is constructed in such a manner as to enclose a piston rod 6 and secured to said rod, is automatically deflected by deflection means consisting of a coil spring 9 and the like when a stay damper 12 is extended to an extreme position, and adapted to the top end part of a cylinder 5. In this way, the cover 7 is actuated in such a manner that its lower portion 7a is deflected toward an opposite direction to the cylinder 5 by the spring 9 simultaneously the top edge 7c of its cut portion is allowed to get on a bearing 8 located on the top end of the cylinder 5. Accordingly, the cover 7, even if pressed downward, is blocked its movement toward the below by the adapting relation between the top edge 7c of the cut portion and the bearing 8, to hold a state of extreme extension of the stay damper 12, and when applied said mechanism to automobiles, a rear window can be supported to its opening position thus to prove its safety.
