Abstract

PURPOSE:To realize a transmission with a small number of bits, by transmitting an analog conversion value of the digital modulated wave at the transmitter side after a level compression and then giving a level expansion to the above-mentioned conversion value of digital modulated wave transmitted to the receiver side by an amount equivalent to the level compression. CONSTITUTION:The analog signal sent from the input terminal 1 is supplied to the sampling/ holding circuit 3 through the low-pass filter 2, and the sampling signal is supplied to the A/D converter 8. Then the digital modulated wave of the converter 8 is supplied to a variable gain unit 13 and then transmitted after the analog conversion level receives a abbreviated variation by the control signal supplied from the gain control part 14 as well as to the signal predicting circuit 15 within the control part 14. The circuit 15 predicts the level of the signal to be supplied at the next time based on the present level and the 1-sample preceding level. The digital modulated wave received at the receiver side is supplied to the variable gain unit 18 and the gain control part 19, and the analog conversion level of the unit 18 receives a variable control by the output of the control part 19 to have an expanding action. Then the original analog signal is delivered through the D/A converter 9 and low-pass filter 11.
