Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve water absorbing capacity of an anionic water absorbable resin in an ionic aqueous solution by adding and adhering a sol forming substance, a neutralizing agent and a polymer as essentintial components of a water absorbing agent to an insoluble carrier.
CONSTITUTION: Three essental components of a sol forming inorg. salts such as aluminum nitrate or the like forming a sol by neutralization in an aqueous solution, a neutralizing agent (wherein said neutralizing agent may be a sol forming agent) and a water absorbable resin such as an insoluble polyacrylic acid type water absorbable resin or the like are added and adhered to an insoluble carrier such as silica sand or the like. Even if the resulting water absorbing agent is used in an ionic aqueous solution, because salt resistance of an anionic water absorbable resin can be improved, water absorbing capacity or the like is enhanced.
