Abstract
PURPOSE:To invert the time axis by returning a traveling signal wave to its arrival direction, by causing an impulsive ultrasonic wave to strike the signal wave. CONSTITUTION:Electric signals inputted from terminals 2 and 2' are converted into surface wave (SAW) by transducer 1. Then, SAW travles straight on the surface of sound-transmissible substrate 4 from left to right. Pulse generator 7, on the other hand, actuates ultrasonic-wave generating means 5 to generate BULK waves. The BULK waves strike the traveling SAW at the same time over the entire surface of sound-transmissible substrate 4. Once both those waves strike mutually, the nonlinearity characteristic to SAW provides integration effect. As a result, SAW is separated into a component which is further traveling ahead and components which are traveling back to terminals 2 and 2'. Those traveling-back components are led out from terminals 2 and 2' to obtain a signal having the time axis inverted, thereby performing time-axis inverting operation.
