Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent damage to and deterioration in a recording and reproducing laser of optical information by a method wherein a constant current circuit in driving is delayed so as to start operation after the power source voltage is stabilized when the power is ON, while the driving thereof is halted simultaneously with the OFF of the power source. CONSTITUTION:This device supplies an output V1 from a constant voltage supply circuit 5 to drive a laser 4 with a constant current I3. When a switch 2 is ON, R2.C4>>R1.C1 is established. The rising of V2 and V3 is delayed from V1 and transistor (TR)Q4 is turned ON from off while a transistor Q9 is turned off from on so that a constant current starts flowing after V1 is stabilized sufficiently. On the other hand, when the switch turns OFF, the voltage of C4 switches ON the TRQ2, OFF the TRQ4 and ON the TRQ9 whereby the driving current is stopped before V1 is changed. This can prevents the generation of a spike current due to the transient characteristics of the power source making it easy to handle as a device for recording and reproducing optical information. Thus, damage to and deterioration in the laser are eliminated.
