Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the designed pressure of a base tank, by a method wherein gas is decreased in temperature by the evaporation heat produced through the evaporation of a part of low-temperature liquefied gas. CONSTITUTION:A low-temperature liquefied gas, which is transported through a line 3 from a carrier ship, enters into a cooling tank 1. The pressure in the cooling tank 1 evaporates a part of the low-temperature liquefied gas always flown into the cooling tank 1 by means of a compressor. The remaining low-temperature liquefied gas is decreased in temperature resulting from the absorption of the heat generated from the low-temperature liquefied gas in the cooling tank 1 when it is evaporated. The resultant low-temperature liquefied gas, which is decreased in temperature in a manner described above, is fed to a base tank 2 by means of a pump 6. This permits the reduction of a saturation vapor pressure of the low-temperature liquefied gas in the base tank and of the design pressure of the tank.
