Abstract

PURPOSE: To eliminate a large amount of liquid coolant flow out of the accumulator due to foaming by providing a plurality of buffle plates within an accumulator container so that a compressor can be effectively prevented from making noises and shortening its service life.
CONSTITUTION: The container 3 of the accmulator 1 is connected at the top with a flowing-in pipe 2 and at the bottom with a flowing-out pipe 4. In the upper part of the container 3, there are provided a screen 5 and an upper baffle plate 6. In the lower part, there is provided a lower baffle plate 9 having a communication tube 8. Between the upper and lower baffle plates 6 and 9 is defined a liquid reservoir 10. Below the lower baffle plate 9 is defined a space 11 for attenuating pulsive pressure. The lower baffle plate 9 has an oil return hole 12. The liquid reservoir 10 includes a middle baffle plate 13 positioned at a relatively low position which divides the liquid reservoir 10 into two spaces 10' and 10". With such a construction, the foaming is not so activated as to raise bubbles up to the upper opening end of the communication tube 8. Thus, there is no possibility of the liquid flowing out through the communication tube 8.
