Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the damage of a tape due to a slip by making iteasy to check the propriety of tape loading by applying constant tension to a tape with its tape tip wound around a reel hub and by discriminating whether the tape is in a stop state or not at that time. CONSTITUTION:Rotational frequencies of supply and take-up reels and a timer roller are detected as pulses proportional to the number of rotation by shaft encoders 11a- 11c and photodetectors 12a-12c and then inputted to dividers 14a and 14c by way of F-V converters 13a-13c to obtain outputs which are in proportion of wind radiuses of a tape. Those outputs are inputted to sample holding circuits 15a and 15b holding them when the stop mode is selected by mode commanding means 21, and with their outputs, torque setting devices 16a and 16c are controlled to apply both the reels with mutual drawing force, thereby holding the tape tension constant. Therefore, when the tape is loaded on the reels correctly, the tape never runs even if brakes 20a and 20b are released, so the check is facilitated, so that the damage of the tape is securely prevented.
