Abstract

PURPOSE: To analyze gas components correctly by a method wherein the pressure of a gas sampled at on outlet side of a vacuum tank is controlled and the gas is analyzed by a mass spectrometer, when degassing the molten metal in a vessel by sucking it into the vacuum tank.
CONSTITUTION: The molten metal 2 in the vessel 1 is degassed by sucking it into the vacuum tank 3. In this case, a suction port 11 for analytical gas sampling is provided at a part of a conduit 4 extended from the tank 3 to a steam ejector 5 for generating a suction force. An injection port 12 for returning the sampled gas into the conduit 4 is provided downstream of the suction port 11. A pressure controller 23 is provided in a pipe extended from the suction port 11 to be injection port 12 so as to control the sampled gas in the pipe. A portion of the sampled gas of which the pressure is controlled 23 in the pipe is introduced into the mass spectrometer 41 to analyze the gas, and the degassing operation is conducted on the basis of the results of the gas analysis.
