Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a spacer material for a display panel which does not damage the electrodes and does not move in the panel by covering metal oxide powder with a resin.
CONSTITUTION: Powder of a metal oxide such as aluminum oxide or titanium oxide having about 10μ particle size and about 1W1.4 shape factor is mixed with a resin such as epoxy resin or high density polyethylene, heated to a temp. approaching the softening point of the resin, and pulverized to particles of about 20W25μ particle size for a spacer material. The above-mentioned shape factor is the average value of the ratio of the major axis of each particle determined by a microscopic magnification method to the minor axis intersecting perpendicularly to the major axis, and it is prescribed by JIS-R6002.
