Abstract

PURPOSE:To quickly cool reaction gas and prevent the decrease in the yield of reaction by forming catalyst trays adjacent to a heat exchanger to a staircase shape. CONSTITUTION:The fluid to be treated is charged from a raw material gas inlet 2 into a reactor 1, and reacts by passing through catalyst trays 4, thence it is fed into a multitube type heat exchanger 3, where it is cooled. The catalyst trays 4 are made into the multistage construction provided with level differences along the slope of the tube plate of the heat exchanger 3, wherein the thicknesses of the catalyst beds of the trays 4 are so formed that the fluid to be treated flows uniformly. By this type, the space volume between the trays 4 and the tube plate of the heat exchanger 3 is reduced and the trays 4 and the tube plate is approached, hence the cooling of reaction gas is accomplished quickly and the record of reaction improves.
