Abstract

PURPOSE: To effectively protect a motor when sparking short-circuit is occured on a DC motor armature by a method wherein the main circuit is broken in response to the attainment to the preset value of the difference in current on the two series circuits which are cross-field connected.
CONSTITUTION: The armatures A1WA3 of the main motor in the first group and the series field magnets MF4WMF6 of the main motor in the second group are connected in series, the armatures A4WA6 of the second group and the series field magnets MF1WMF3 are connected in series and a dynamic braking resistor R is connected in parallel commonly to both of these series circuits. Also, when the difference in current of the currents i2 and i3 running to the two DC circuits has reached the preset value, a differential current relay DR, with which line breakers L1 and L2 will be open-circulated, is provided. Through these procedures, the motors can be protected effectively in the case when a sparking short-circuit is occured on the armature.
