Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate malfunction by having a comparing means which generates a knocking signal when the level of an engine vibration signal exceeds a reference voltage. CONSTITUTION:Prior to starting of an engine, no engine vibration signals exist and therefore, the potential of a capacitor C generating the reference signal of a reference voltage generating circuit 4 is at a low level. When a motor start switch MST is turned on, the voltage of a battery BT flows as a correction signal to the capacitor C via a diode D and a resistance R4, then the potential of the capacitor C reaches a prescribed value. On starting of the engine, the motor switch MST is returned to the off-state and therefore the generation of the correction signal stops. In the circuit 4, the engine vibration signal is inputted and the voltage having undergone half-wave rectifying, dividing and voltage following is applied via the resistance R3 to the capacitor C. Since the potential of the capacitor C has already the prescribed value, it immediately follows up the voltage corresponding to the average level of the engine vibration signal.
