Abstract

PURPOSE: To promote the anti-corrosive capacity of a pressure vessel used for a containing case of an underwater sonar or the like as reducing its weight by constructing parts of the vessel of plastic materials reinforced by reinforcing fibre mainly made of carbon fibre.
CONSTITUTION: A pressure vessel is constructed of a flange part 1 and a cylinder part 2. The cylinder part 2 is mainly made of carbon fibre and shaped in proper shape, fibre arrangement, and lamination by the use of thermosetting resin such as epoxy resin or the like so that destructions of buckling and compression cannot be given by the external pressure. For shaping the flange part 1, matrix resin material containing about 3W50mm long reinforcing fibers by 10W80% of resin-weight content is used, and a laminated body 5 constructed of disk-cut sheet plates 4 is charged in a metallc mold 6 and vertically pressed and heated for generating flows of resin and fibre in almost parallel layers on each surface. Then, the cylinder part 2 and the flange part 1 are combined by an O-ring 3 made of elastic rubber and constructed into a pressure vessel.
