Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide the titled polyamide having the characteristic excellent properties of aromatic polyamides and capable of being compounded to other resins, rubbers, etc., characterized in that at least a part of the aromatic diamine unit has a polyester bond at the side chain.
CONSTITUTION: In an aromatic polyamide composed of an aromatic diamine unit, substantially equimolar amount of an aromatic dicarboxylic acid unit, and if necessary, an aromatic aminocarboxylic acid unit, at least a part of said aromatic diamine unit is a unit of formula I [R and R' are group of formula II or formula III (R1, R2 and R4 are bivalent hydrocarbon group; R3 and R5 are H, alkyl, aryl, etc.; n≥1; m≥2)], and the polyester part denoted by R and R' is ≥20wt%, pref. ≥30wt% of the whole aromatic polyamide.
