Abstract
PURPOSE: To efficiently bend a glass plate at about 20W150R curvature along the desired bending line by locally heating the plate with a heater of a desired curved shape formed by attaching a resistance heating wire to an insulating heat-resistant member.
CONSTITUTION: Core metal 30 of a desired curved shape is enclosed with insulating heat-resistant rodlike body 31, and after arranging a pair of alumina rods 34, resistance heating wire 33 is spirally wound around the body 31 with a ceramic cushion material 32 in-between to form a heater having a plane radiating face A to a glass surface. The width of the effective radiating face is preferably about 3W50mm. Said heater is set over the glass plate mounted on bending dies preferably at about 2W50mm space along the bending line. The plate is preheated to about 640W670°C, and by supplying an electric current to the heater, the plate is locally heated to about 690W730°C and bent along the bending line.
