Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a rust removing agent having physically and chemically superior rust removing action by mixing powder of an abrasive material and a viscous acidic liq. in a specified ratio. CONSTITUTION:A slurrified rust removing agent is manufactured by mixing 10-40 part powder of an abrasive material such as carborundum, alumina, rare earth element oxide, emery, diatomaceous earth or cerite with a 90-60 part viscous acidic liq. with 0.82-1.00 specific gravity and 1,000-10,000cps viscosity. The liq. is prepared by mixing a 0.5-12mg equiv./g org. or inorg. acid such as phosphoric acid, oxalic acid or hydrochloric acid, an org. solvent such as petroleum, alcohol, ketone or ester, a surfactant, a thickener such as methylcellulose or casein and water. This rust removing agent can remove rust on a metal surface physically or chemically in an effective manner.
