Abstract

PURPOSE:To always ensure the reception in the optimum direction by using a pair of dipole antennas having the directional characteristics which can be controlled freely. CONSTITUTION:Dipole antennas 8 and 9 possessing the distribution constant inductance each incorporate variable phase shifters 13 and 14 respectively and distributed in parallel to each other to be connected to compounding unit 10. Receiver 16 connected to the antenna part thus formed detects by detector 17 the extent of the multipath effect contained in the intermediate frequency signal. And this detection signal is compared 18 with the reference value, and the control signal is supplied to adders 21 and 22 each. On the other hand, the control signals sent from reference signal generator 23 are added together by adders 21 and 22, and then the control is given to phase shifters 13 and 14 to secure the minimum multipath effect. Thus the directional characteristics is controlled for the antenna part. In such way, the reception is always possible in the optimum direction, at the same time attaining a small size of the antenna part.
