Abstract

PURPOSE: To permit a more compact suction fan to be employed for a sheet carrying apparatus which is formed by providing sheet carrying belts at intervals on the surface of an air chamber equipped with a suction pressure generating means, by constituting the apparatus so as to suck a sheet at portions adjacent to the belts.
CONSTITUTION: In the upper surface of a vacuum chamber 13, recesses 14 are formed along the moving paths of respective flat belts 10 arranged at proper intervals. A suction hole 15 is made at a proper portion in the bottom surface of each of said recesses 14, and a conducting passage 16 is formed extending from said suction hole 15 toward the width direction of the flat belt 10. The ends of the conducting 16 communicate with openings 17 opened at the side surfaces of the flat belt 10 in the longitudinal direction thereof in order to apply suction forces to both side surfaces of the flat belt 10. By said constitution, a sucked sheet P can be made to closely adhere to the belts 10 directly. Accordingly, the suction fan or the like can be more compact. In addition, the apparatus can reliably carry such thick sheets as post-cards.
