Abstract

PURPOSE: To allow the sewage subjected to primary treatment to flow down and circulate zigzag and purify the sewage by the effect of microbes by juxtaposing and fixing plural flow plates in the form of horizontal steps at every other fixed intervals in such a manner that part of the circumferential edges serve as flow communicating parts, building air lift pipes and putting the assembly into a tank.
CONSTITUTION: The waste liquid W1 separated by a sedimentation separating chamber or screen which is provided for primary treatment is flowed into a filter bed tank 1 through a transfer pipe 2. Then, the liquid disperses horizontally on a flow plate 3, flows while contacting air, passes through a flow communicating part 6 and flows down onto the next flow plate 4. It flows down zigzag successively down to the lowermost step, from where it is lifted to the upper part by the effect of an air lift pump 8 and joins with the waste liquid W1 on the flow plate 3, thereby making circulation. The purified liquid is released from a discharge pipe 14 through an outflow hole 13 and a discharge pipe 9. The effect similar to that mentioned above is obtainable as well by providing drop holes 37, 37' in the central parts or other positions of the plates 38, 38', or alternately juxtaposing circular flat flow plates 40 of a small diameter and circular flow plates 42 of a large diameter pierced with flow holes 41 in the central part.
