Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide easy-to-handle and harmless solid granular material by granulating the reaction product produced by electron beam-irradiating exhaust gas treatment together with inorg. material, producing a gas contg. ammonia and removing the same. CONSTITUTION:Either NH3 is added to an exhaust gas contg. SO2 and/or NOx and electron beams are irradiated or NH3 is added after electron beam irradiation, whereby aerosol type reaction product is obtained. This reaction product is granulated together with inorg. material, for example, CaO, within a fluidized bed granulating device under the presence of moisture. It is granulated to spherical grains of 0.2-6mm. diameters and the residence time is kept at 5-40min. The resultant solid granular material is further thermally decomposed at high temp., so that a gas contg. dinitrogen oxide is produced and the main component of the granular material is changed to gypsum. The removed gas contg. dinitrogen oxide is effectively utilized as a combustion improve of fuel, whereby the dinitrogen oxide is decomposed and is thus made perfectly harmless.
