Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the entry of water and the decrease in strength by filling specific viscous liquid in the cushion layer consisting of the fibrous members formed between optical fiber cores and a sheath. CONSTITUTION:Plural pieces of fiber cores 4 having clad layers are disposed around a tension member 5 at equal intervals, and fibrous members 8 are filled in the cushion layer 7 formed between a sheath 6 and the tension member 5. Also, viscous liquid (e.g.; polybutene, white vaseline) 9 which makes the degree of swelling of the clad layers of the optical fiber cores 4 <=1.0% is filled therein. Thereby, the occurrence of microbending is suppressed and despite bending of this optical fiber cable at curvature of about several times the outside diameter, there is virtually no transmission loss.
