Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent generation of heat and abnormal wear by aligning the rotation axes of a bearing and diaphragm spring through self-centering of the bearing with regard to a sleeve.
CONSTITUTION: A self-lubricating friction plate 11 made of synthetic resin is attached to a surface facing an outer supporting cover 2 of fork bearing flange 10 fixed to a sleeve 9. Adjacent to the friction plate 11, a free ring 13 with a slant or spherical surface 12 is put with a gap on the external surface, transferable in the radial direction. The cover 2 has a flange 15, its external taper 16 being in contact with the spherical face 12 and pressed through the free ring 13 to the flange 10 by means of a flat spring 18 which is positioned by a stop ring 17. As the rotational axis of the sleeve 9 is eccentric to that of a diaphragm, the free ring 13 is radially shifted along the plate 11 to eliminate the eccentricity. As both axes are slanted, the flange 15 slides on the spherical face 12 to keep them self-aligned.
