Abstract

1473139 Clutch release bearings; face seals SKF INDUSTRIAL TRADING & DEVELOPMENT CO BV 16 July 1974 [19 July 1973] 31450/74 Headings F2L and F2B A clutch release bearing is mounted on a sleeve 2 with radial free play by means of a radially inwardly extending flange 11 of the outer bearing race 8 being constrained between a radially extending flange 12 of the sleeve 2 and a radially extending flange 15 of a ring 16, the ring 16 also having an axially extending flange fitted on a surface 17 of the sleeve 2, the flanges 12, 15 axially constraining but permitting radial self-centring movement of the bearing relative to the sleeve. The ring 16 may be of sheet metal and have projections pressed out from flange 15 which engage recesses of the flange 11 to prevent rotation of the outer race 8 (Fig. 2, not shown), or the ring may be of plastics material and have keying portions formed on the axially extending flange (Fig. 4, not shown). In Fig. 6 the ring 23 has a sealing lip 28 engaging the rotating race, the ring 23 being of resilient material such as a plastics.
