Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the thermal resistance between a fluorescent body and heat- discharging plates provided outside the vacuum tube, by forming a hollow fluorescent target into a sealed chamber having a heat pipe structure, and by extending the sealed chamber to the heat-discharging plates. CONSTITUTION:A fluorescent target 1, to which a fluorescent body 6 is applied, is supported by cooling supporting parts 2 and 3 and is placed within a vacuum tube 13. The target 1 and the supporting parts 2 and 3, the inner walls of which are equipped with a capillary-tubes structured part 8, are connected so that the inner parts of them are connected and form a sealed chamber 7 which is shielded from outside of them. Heat-discharging plates 9a and 9b are attached to the ends of the cooling supporting parts 2 and 3. Owing to the above constitution, the fluorescent target 1 is efficiently cooled, the beam current can be increased, and the luminous efficacy can be enhanced.
