Abstract
PURPOSE:To increase the strength of a spring in the up-and-down motion, and the horizontal direction, and also float a slider stably, by providing a means for adjusting a negative lift, on the slider, in a floating type magnetic head provided with two floating surfaces which have a positive attach angle, and generate a positive lift and a negative lift. CONSTITUTION:When a magnetic disk 1 is rotated in the direction as indicated with an arrow, the slider 3 slides on a lubricant applied on the magnetic disk 1, and when the peripheral speed is increased, the inclined floating surfaces 4, 4 and the plain floating surfaces 6, 6 generate a positive lift, and the slider 3 is floated. When the magnetic disk 1 has reached the high speed stationary rotation, a negative lift is generated in the negative pressure pocket part 9, but the hole 10 of the floating surface 8 of the negative pressure pocket part 9 becomes atmospheric pressure, and the negative lift is reduced. A prescribed lift is obtained by the relation of strength between said negative lift and the positive lift in the inclined surfaces 4, 4 and the plain floating surfaces 6, 6. In this way, it is possible to increase the strength of a spring in the up-and-down motion and the horizontal direction of the slider 3, and also float the slider 3 stably.
