Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase the overall surface area of exclusive balast tanks of a tanker along its bottom hull and improve its safety as an oil tanker, by inclining longitudinal partition walls which divide the balast tanks with respect to the vertical center plane the tanker.
CONSTITUTION: For the purpose of increasing the surface area of each exclusive balast tank 1 along bottom hull 1b which tank 1 is partitioned by a hull-side outer plate 1a, longitudinal partition wall 3, upper deck 1, and the bottom hull 1b, the partition wall 3 is provided aslant in such a manner that the joint between each partition wall 3 and the bottom hull 1b is located closer to the vertical center plane of the tanker than that between the same wall 3 and the deck 1c. This facilitates proper positioning of the members of a ship shell structure as well as an increase of the area of the exclusive balast tanks without increasing the shell weight and the number of assembly steps, and thus improves its safely as an oil tanker.
