When the coil part 11 is fed with either an AC or DC current, the permanent magnets 13, 14 repel each other so that the armature 12 can be supported in a suspended state. This kind of support replaces support by mechanical means, resulting in a preciser and more stabilized responsive motions to a minute signal.
