Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a liquid-crystal display element superior in transparency and having an inconspicuous nesa pattern by providing a liquid-crystal oriented film, made of a polymer of a dibasic acid hydrazide compound and diisocyanate compound, on a substrate having an electrode formed. CONSTITUTION:On a substrate having an electrode formed, a liquid-crystal oriented film made of a polyphtalic acid semicarbazide compound polymer obtained by condensing a dibasic acid hydrazide compound, shown by formula I (R; aromatic compound or aliphatic compound), and diisocyanate compound is provided. To synthesize the said polyhydrazide polymer, the said dibasic acid hydrazide and diisocyanate compound are condensed at about 10 deg.C in an organic solvent. As liquid crystal sealed in a liquid-crystal display element, compounds expressed by formula II, III, etc., are shown in the figure.
