Abstract
PURPOSE:To control frequency of spray repairment with refractory repairing material and to prolong an average life of a furnace, by detecting a transition of temperature inside refractory of converter lining and burnout speed of a thermocouple buried in refractory, after starting and operation of a converter. CONSTITUTION:For severe local burnout parts such as trunnions, slag line, etc., a refractory block 17 having smal holes 18 drilled for a thermocouple 19 are incorporated construction of furnace. And the thermocouple 19 whose wiring passes through insides of trunnion axes 4 and supporting parts 20, is set into the small holes 18 in the block 17 and connected with temperature recorders at another end. By this means, for a long period until the tips of the thermocouple 19 is burned out together with the block 17, transition of temperature of the block and burnout speed of the thermocouple 19 can be accurately obtained. Accordingly, at the time when tendency of a sudden rise in rising speed of the temperature of refractary or in a burnout speed of the thermocouple 19 is found, spray repairment is applied around the periphery of the block 17, enabling reduction in repairing materials and prolongation of furnace life.
