Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide the titled apparatus capable of obtaining a thin walled hollow molded body with uniform characteristics in the orientation of the resin by a simple apparatus constituted by fixing a heating and cooling pipe to one side of a core for forming a cavity.
CONSTITUTION: A thermoplastic resin (e.g.; celluloid) is injected into the hollow semispherical cavity 12 formed by a cavity plate 13 and the core 14 and molded therein to obtain the hollow molded body such as a semispherical body for a table tennis ball. In this case, one end of the heating and cooling pipe 20 containing a hydraulic fluid filled in an interior thereof has been fixed to a direction opposed to a molding surface of the core 14. The core 14 has been heated by a heated working fluid prior to pouring the resin into the cavity 12 and, after the resin is poured therein, the working fluid is quickly cooled to cool the poured resin rapidly. Because the resin is cooled rapidly, nonuniform orientation of the resin can be prevented.
