Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent a discontinuous part from being generated in a wear-resisting layer and prevent a heating resistor layer from being oxidized by slanting opposite end faces of electrodes, in the thermal head including the electrodes oppositely provided on both sides of a heat-generating part and the wear-resisting layer provided thereon. CONSTITUTION:The end faces of the electrodes 4, 5 are slanted by an angle theta against the surface of a base plate 1 instead of perpendicular to the said surface. An appropriate value of the angle theta is about 60 deg. or smaller. Such an inclination can be obtained by slightly lowering the baking temperature for a photoresist to weaken the adhesion between the photoresist and the electrodes 4, 5 so that an etching solution can penetrating into photoresist-electrode interface to proceed side etching, when carrying out photoetching for producing the electrodes 4, 5. Accordingly, it is possible to prevent the generation of the discontinuous part A in the wear-resisting layer and hence the oxidation of both ends B of the heat-generating part 3', which would otherwise lead to an increase of electrical resistance and a reduction of recording density.
