Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a photoreceptor of high sensitivity and small residual charge free from ground soiling by providing a photosensitive layer contg. a specific hydrazone compound on a conductive substrate. CONSTITUTION:The alkyltolyl hydrazone expressed by the formula [Ar is respectively substituted or unsubstituted benzene, naphthalene, anthracene, heterocycle or styryl, substituents are CH3, CH3O, N(CH3)2, Cl, etc., R1 is CH3, C2H5] and obtd. by the condensation of 1-substituted tolyl hydrazones and aldehydes is used as a photoconductive layer in making the photoreceptor. Since these hydrazone compounds have virtually no absorption in a visible light region, the soln. prepd. by dissolving these together with a sensitizing dye having absorption to visible light in a binder resin soln. is coated on a substrate 1 and is dried, whereby a photosensitive layer 2 is formed and the photoreceptor is made. Or, the photoreceptor of high sensitivity having flexibility is produced by such things as forming a charge transfer layer 4 contained with hydrazone compounds on the layer 5 dispersed with a material 3 which generates charge carriers by absorbing visible light (Se, phthalocyanine type pigment, etc.).
