Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the reliability of a capacitor motor in operation and the reduction of power consumption by turning on or off a semiconductor switching element with a signal electrically detecting the conduting state to switch the capacitor capacity at starting time and after acceleration. CONSTITUTION:Since a transistor Tr6 is turned on with its base voltage lowered while a transistor Tr5 is turned off when starting a capacitor motor, a transistor Tr8 is turned on to conduct is thyristor S. Accordingly, an auxiliary winding A is connected to phase dividing and starting capacitors CR and CS. When the motor speed is raised to cause the potential across the winding A to become high so that the detected voltage by a detector 1 exceeds set voltage of constant-voltage diode 9, a current flows through the base of the transistor Tr5 to conduct the Tr5 while turn off the Tr6.
